There exists in the world several organizations of extreme left bearing the name of Socialist Workers Party, of which one in the United States of America, one in Great Britain and one in New Zealand.
The three are of tradition trotskist, but their ideas moved away on several points. SWP (the USA), which was for a long time the American section of the Fourth International one rested by Leon Trotsky, has a very positive analysis of the role of Castro and cuban government. He is currently castrist, breaking definitively with the theories Trotskistes and its International in the beginning of the year 1980.
SWP (GB) considers on the contrary that Cuba - as the old countries of the Soviet block - is controlled by a capitalist elite of State which uses a socialist vocabulary but which does not make it possible to advance the interests of the workers.
SWP (GB) does not take part as such in the elections, but he is member of the COALITION RESPECT which is equipped with a deputy at the British Parliament (George Galloway) and several city council men. In Scotland, the SWP formed a platform of the Scottish Socialist party until September 2006, date on which this one scissioné. The militants Scot of the platform Socialist Worker militate now in a new party, Solidarity.
SWP (GB) has an industrial department which coordinate its work with the Labor movement and a section coed. Its members play a big role locally, and sometimes nationally, in several trade unions. Lately, the party was particularly implied in the construction of the movement against the war in Iraq - in particular through the Coalition Stop the War - and against the islamophobie. Its principal leaders include Chris Bambery, Lindsey German, John Rees and Chris Harman.
There exist two small organizations in France which claim ideas of SWP (GB) - Socialism by in bottom (which has more or less direct relationship with the direction of the SWP), and International Socialism. Both militate within the Communist revolutionary league.
