Socialist Alliance is a party anti-capitalist Australia N.
Its slogan is " For the million, not the millionnaires".
Birth
Formed on February 17th, 2001 by 8 groups and socialist parties, in a preoccupation with a unit of the radical left vis-a-vis the government Néolibéral/Néoconservateur of John Howard and to the timidity of the Labor opposition.
The conference of foundation took place with Melbourne August 4th and 5th 2001.
Principal positions

the party denounces the reductions in the income tax and on the benefit of the companies as well as the increase in the equivalent of the VAT, and preaches on the contrary a distribution of the richnesses
- Opposition to the privatizations carried out as well by the coalition to the capacity as by their Labor predecessors
- Opposition to the foreign politics of the president Bush (invasion of Iraq…) supported by Howard, the party requires the withdrawal of the Australian troops in Iraq

Ideological proximity
One of the founding members of Socialist Alliance, Socialist Democratic Party, launched in 1991 a newspaper militant, Green Left Weekly. So since this last became independent, it supports the campaigns of Socialist Alliance actively.
