Social Broken Scene

Broken Social Scene is a group of independent Rock, originating in Toronto (Canada). Formed in 1999 by its leaders Brendan Canning and Kevin Drew, this collective counts many members and guests coming from other groups, guests often uniting in Broken Social Scene in concert.

Beginnings

At the beginning, Broken Social Scene is an small group of Post-rock'n'roll of the local scene of Toronto, gathered around its two founders.

Heading Feel Good Lost , a first album leaves in 2001, mainly instrumental and of an atmospheric content. At that time, the Canadian scene indie-rock'n'roll gains in importance and in-depth, taken along by seminal the Godspeed You! Black Emperor of Montreal. Broken Social Scene belongs to this movement, which makes it possible the group to weave bonds with the other artists of the Toronto-native scene.

In 2002, the collective increases. In front of the little of enthusiasm caused by the first album (in particular in concert), Kevin Drew, taking the role of creative leader little by little, invites several of his/her friends musicians to the project. Broken Social Scene becomes then a gathering collective with variable geometry invited and regular members. Thus are added artists like Jason Collett, Feist, Emily Haines (Metric) or Amy Millian (Stars). The collective counts sometimes ten people and becomes a kind of " Dream Team" Toronto-native rock'n'roll.

Dedication

You Forgot It In People leaves during 2002 on Arts & Craft, label on which is always Broken Social Scene. This album is revolving in the career of the Canadian collective. Encensé and propelled to the row of figurehead of the Canadian scene indie-rock'n'roll thanks to this album, Broken Social Scene meets a deserved success. Already air, the music grows rich a melody pop depth.

In 2005, Arcade Fire puts the planet rock'n'roll at its feet and the projectors are directed on the Canadian scene (of Montreal and Toronto especially). The exit of the album éponyme of Broken Social Scene is thus awaited by the critics and the fans. In the continuity of the preceding album, Broken Social Scene new believed wants to be more accessible without being agreed: the compositions are more rock'n'roll and percussion and the universe presented, plus rate/rhythm. The collective is from now on impossible to circumvent. In addition to its four albums, including two essential, Broken Social Scene also gives all its measurement at the time of hypnotic concerts.
