Social-liberal Coalition

A social-liberal coalition ( sozialliberale Koalition ) is a type of German government coalition gathering the social democrat Parti (SPD) and the Parti liberal-democrat (FDP). One also speaks about coalition red-yellow ( belch-gelbe Koalition ) by reference to the traditional colors of the SPD and the FDP, respectively the Rouge and the Jaune.

Current in the years 1960 and 1970, the coalitions of this type became less probable as from the years 1990, because the Verts became the privileged partner of the SPD, and CDU/CSU that of the FDP.
