Sobradinho

Sobradinho is at the same time a stopping and an artificial lake located in the State of Bahia of the North-East of the Brésil, but also a city located close to the Lac of Sobradinho. The population of the city was of 21.398 inhabitants in 2005.

Dam Sobradinho

The dam of the stopping has a maximum height of 41 meters and a length of step less than 12,5 km. Its hydroelectric station is equipped with 6 units with turbines of a unit power of 175,050 kw, adding up 1.050.300 kw.

The dam is equipped with a lock whose room has 120 meters of length and 17 meters broad making it possible the boats to pass the barrier of 32,5 meters created by the dam, and guaranteeing the continuation of navigation between Pirapora, with the Minas Gerais and Juazeiro in the State of Bahia or Petrolina in that of Pernambuco.
