Sobekemsaf Ier

Sobekemsaf 1st is a Pharaon of, installed with Thèbes. It reigns for the period disturbed of the {{intermediate IIe}} period, during sixteen years according to the Papyrus of Turin, which places it in fourth place in the succession of the sovereigns of this dynasty.

He was probably the father of Sobekemsaf {{II}}.

Its activities of manufacturer are known to us in the area thebaine, with Abydos and Éléphantine, on several statues of which one was discovered with Assouan, and a stele with Médamoud, in favor of the temple of Montou. Graffiti of Ouadi Hammamat, dating from year 7 of the reign, make it possible to suppose an exploitation of the stone quarries.

Although many specialists place this reign before that of the Antef, the activities of the kingdom of Thèbes, testifying to a relative freedom, can let think that it would be perhaps located towards the end of the dynasty, when the capacity and the influence of the Hyksôs () are reduced.
