Sobek
Sobek , also called Sebek , Sochet , Sobk , Sobki , Soknopais or Greek Soukhos in , is the son of the watery goddess Neith and the god of Senuy. Its statute of god of water and the flood makes it adore everywhere in the delta, the Fayoum and especially with Kôm Ombo, its principal sanctuary, where it has Hathor for wife, although most of the time, no divine partner is allotted to him.
The presence of Crocodile S in the the Nile was for the Égyptiens the advertisement of a rising favorable to harvests: the crocodiles were thus animals crowned at that time. Master of water, god who irrigates the fields, it is also associated with the fertility.
Towards the Low time, the Egyptians seek to gain its favors in order to be of it less afraid by offering figurines to him representing the animal carrying the solar disk decorated with the protective cobra. He will quickly become an important god in the Pantheon in the syncretic Sobek-Re shape.
He is sometimes represented on the solar Barque embanking the giant snake Apophis, personification of chaos, monster trying to absorb the Sun. This role of guard of the solar boat is also allotted to the goddess Sekhmet or even with the god Seth.
