So by a night of winter a traveller (original title Italian: una notte of inverno a viaggiatore ) is a novel of Italo Calvino published in 1979 with the editions Einaudi. The version French E is appeared in 1981 with the Éditions of the Threshold.
In this work the author alternates the “chapters” where it uses a narrative style to tell with the reader his own adventure (use of the second nobody), and beginnings of “novels” always left outstanding.
This work was influenced by membership of the author to the Oulipo.
Analyzes
In this book, Italo Calvino proves to be a professor of novel and an effective storyteller. Composed of eleven Fragment S, the author offers (not without humor) a handing-over in question of the traditional kind of the Romance . The ten first resemble a kind of Encyclopédie of the romantic forms and the last includes them all. The author wants to thus propose the mechanisms of the relationship between the reader and the novel.
