Snoop Dogg

Calvin Broadus alias Snoop Dogg (in the past Snoop Doggy Dogg ) is a Rap fear and American actor born the October 20th 1971 with Long Beach, California. It measures one meter 92. Snoop is more known like MC in the medium of the Hip hop West Coast, and to be one of protected from the producer Dr. DRE. His/her mother quickly called it “Snoopy” because of the expression of her face, and it took the Pseudonyme of Snoop Doggy Dogg when it started to record. It changed its name into Snoop Dogg in 1996 when it left the label which revealed it Death Row Records to sign on the label of Master P, No Limit Records. Several of his/her cousins also became of the rappeurs and the collaborators of the label Aftermath Entertainment, of which RBX, Nate Dogg and Daz Dillinger. As rappor, Snoop became famous for its voice “trailing, nonchalante and lazy”. According to Soundscan, it sold 90 million albums between 1991 and January 2006. Its favorite slogan which gets along in good number of its songs is “ fo' shizzle, my nizzle ” (sour contraction of “ for, my nigger ” which can result roughly in “for sure, my pal”).

Biography

Youth

Snoop grows with Beach Length, to the south of Los Angeles then enters to the polytechnic college of the city where it starts to take part in the contests of rap freestyle.

At the school, he is “good pupil” and rather “discrete” according to its professors, it is within the team of tennis shoe of the college that he seems more extraverti. It will obtain its diploma of secondary education. But little time afterwards, it frequently has troubles with justice, it also approaches the Rollin' 20 ' S Crips, the local group of the Crips, a gang known and supervised by FBI. During the three years which follow, he is regularly imprisoned and then finds a direction with his life while taking refuge in the music.

Snoop Dogg then starts to record made cassettes of rap “house” with his/her cousin Nate Dogg and its friend of college Warren G which is the half-brother of Dr. DRE, member of the sulfurous group of Compton, NWA. With them three, they form a group which they baptize initially Three The Hard Way then 213.

Success with Death Row Records

Advised by Warren G, Dr. DRE starts to collaborate with Snoop, initially on the original soundtrack of the film Deep Cover , then on the first album solo of Dr. DRE The Chronic , with the other members of its first group Tha Dogg Pound, in particular Daz Dillinger. Snoop is on several pieces, in particular legendary “Nuthin' But has “G” Thang”, which give access to him notoriety in the medium of the Hip hop. In August 1993, whereas it is in studio to record its first album Doggystyle , Snoop is stopped following the murder of Phillip Woldermarian, a member of a rival gang. Snoop pleads to it self-defense, supporting that the victim continued it. Defended by Johnnie Cochran Jr, he will be discharged for self-defense and because he drove the car while its bodyguard McKinley Lee drew on the victim. Following this business, Snoop Dogg remained empêtré in the legal battles around the point of right during three years.

After many delays, Doggystyle is finally released in November 1993 and becomes the first album of the history to enter number one the charts directly, thus popularizing the rap westcoast and the G-Funk. In spite of few criticisms which describe the disc like a copy of The Chronic and the charges following the murder and on its subjects misogynists, the album remains at the top of the prize list during several months thanks to the tubes “Who Am I (What' S My Name)? ”, “Ain' T No Fun” and “Gin & Juice”.

During a British round in 1994, the local newspapers as well as a deputy claim that the government expels the rappor of the country. Snoop does not pay attention to it and it is inspired even by its lawsuit to come to create a short-measuring produced by DRE entitled Murder was the box and an original soundtrack accompanying it. During this time, the sales of Doggystyle reach four million specimens.

After the verdict of its lawsuit, Snoop benefits from one calm period to record its second album Tha Doggfather , which appears in November 1996. The Gangsta rap declining, is then leaded by the death of Tupac Shakur, the sales suffer from it and reach only two million specimens, which is disappointing for an artist of famous world. DRE left earlier Death Row in the year, Snoop coproduit thus this album itself with Daz Dillinger and DJ Pooh.

Recent years

After a bracket which follows the disappearance of his/her friend Tupac, it signs on the label No Limit and returns in 1998 with Da Game Is to Be Sold Not to Be Told then No Limit Top Dogg . Its last album on No Limit is Tha Last Meal in 2000. It is followed round Up in Smoke to the the United States with in particular the rappeurs Dr. DRE, Eminem, Ice Cube, Xzibit and Nate Dogg.

The May 21st 2004, Snoop Dogg divorced his wife Shante Broadus. Then he collaborated again with his old friends Nate Dogg and Warren G as a member of their group of rap 213. He left the album The Hard Way , containing individual “Groupie Luv” which reached the 4th position in the classification Billboard 200 (U.S.).

In 2004, Snoop signed on the label Star Trak of Neptunes, the latter to date produirent several pieces for its last album, R&G (Rhythm & Gangsta): The Masterpiece . The first individual one, “Drop It Like It' S Hot” (with Pharrell), became its first individual to reach the first place of the charts. Its third individual was “Signs” (with Justin Timberlake and Charlie Wilson), which began in the British charts in second position, a first for Snoop Dogg.

Snoop and its associates were the center of a rape case following an appearance with the Jimmy Kimmel Live, a televised show. The plaintiff, Kylie Beautiful, declared that she had been doped and deceived sexually by Snoop and four others. Snoop then prosecuted it, pleading which it had paid 5 million dollars in exchange of the silence of Beautiful. The two complaints were later abandoned in a payment by amicable agreement.

Snoop Dogg announced then that its next album, Tha Blue Carpet Treatment , would be produced by its old associated Dr. DRE, thus dissipating the rumors of an estrangement between the two accomplices lately. Moreover, Snoop will be present on the probable last album of DRE, Detox .

The April 26th 2006, Snoop Dogg and the members of its entourage were stopped with the airport of Heathrow following a scuffle which wounded seven police officers after being returned first class of the British Airways. One did not allow Snoop and his/her friends to travel in first class because although part of the entourage has the right of it, other members were to travel in economic class. After the group was escorted outside, they vandalisèrent a store taken the tax off by throwing bottles of Whiskey. After one night in prison, Snoop Dogg and the other men were released the April 27th but, however, it which been able to honor its concert envisaged with Johannesburg the very same day.
