SmartEiffel

SmartEiffel is a Compilateur free Eiffel . This compiler is developed with LORIA, a research laboratory located at Nancy in France.

The project was initiated in 1994 by the researcher French Dominique Colnet. The compiler names then SmallEiffel , in reference to the language SmallTalk. In 1995, the compiler can for the first time autocompiler. In 1998, at the time of a visit with the LORIA of Richard Stallman, the project is named like belonging to the project GNU. In December 2002, the project is famous SmartEiffel at the time of the release of version 1.0. In September 2004, SmartEiffel reaches version 2.0.

In May 2005, following dissensions with the work group of standardization of the Eiffel language, the SmartEiffel project announces that it will not implement standard ECMA TC39-TG4.
