Small centaury

The small centaury ( Centaurium erythraea Rafn) is a bi-annual herbaceous plant of the family of the Gentianacées.

Description

It is a rather low plant, generally forming a solitary stem set up at the ramified ends, with the basal sheets in rivet washer, the pink flowers in cymes bipares. It pushes in the wet pastures. It is known also under the name of grass with fever.

Pharmacopeia

Its interest lies especially in its bitter principles, which confer the property to him to stimulate secretions of the liver and the stomach. One will thus use it for problems of stomach, difficult digestions, dyspepsia, hepatic insufficiency.
