Small butterfly
The Small Butterfly or Czech Tacheté is a Lapin. It is a race " nouvelle" with a past almost centenary. It was selected at the beginning of the XXe century by Jan Vaclav Kalal, one of the founders of the Czech Cuniculture, starting from a rabbit population mottled of the area of Tábor. It is the oldest race of this country where it was regularly high since its creation. The first Club of Mottled Czech was created in 1913, it exists still today.
Abroad, the race was exposed in 1936 with the World Fair of Leipzig. It was also exported in Austria in the Fifties and allowed with the standard of this country with a text close to the original.
It is in 1972 qu ' a German stockbreeder Arnold Hirt formulated his desire of " créer" a race of Small mottled. He will affirm later not to have been informed at that time of the existence of a Czech Tacheté race. Hirt took for base of work of English the Papillon females whose sides were marked little that it coupled with a male Géant Butterfly. Put at the current of this project, other stockbreeders took the same step. Hirt exposed a parquet floor (4 rabbits) of Small Mottled in 1974 to Bundes-Kaninchenschau.
It is proven that, much the Mottled thereafter Czech one were imported into Germany what induced a spectacular improvement of the German stock.
In 1978, the race was recognized in Germany under the name of Petit Mottled and allowed with the standard.
In France, the race was recognized in 1984 under the name of Petit Butterfly.
