Small Singers of Asnières

It is into 1946 that was created, in the suburbs of Paris, the choral society of the Petits Singers of Asnières of which " Poppys " are resulting.

Under the direction of Jean In love, this chorus was directed quickly towards a style new, rate/rhythm and alive, which enabled him to obtain its first successes: emission “You are formidable” with Europe 1…, Concours of “the gold angel” with RTL…, recordings with large high-speed motorboats of the song like John William, Isabelle Aubret, Nana Mouskouri, Fernand Raynaud, France Gall, Sacha Distel, Lenny Kuhr, Mireille Mathieu, Yannick Noah, Johnny Hallyday, etc…

It is towards this choral society that Eddie Barclay turns in October 1970, when he seeks to assemble a group of children to sing songs rythmées with texts of current events in extreme cases of the dispute: Poppys.

In December 1970 leaves their first 45 Turns… “Christmas 70” and “Not I do not want to make the war”… Europe 1, RTL then the TV diffuse the songs of Poppys… They are soon at the head Hit-Parades. In spring 1971, they hustle all the forecasts during the emissions contest televised of Guy Lux. With their 2nd recording “Not nothing changed” and “Isabelle I love you”, Poppys exceed the million discs and gain their first Gold disc. Soon the foreign TVS claim them: Belgium, Germany, Netherlands… In this country, the passion of the young people is such as the sales of Poppys exceed those of the Beatles!

The course of the 4.000.000 of discs is crossed.
