Small Rhue

The Small Rhue or Rhue de Cheylade (it passes in the valley of Cheylade from where the name which is sometimes given to him) is a French Rivière Massif Central, affluent of the Rhue and tributary of a tributary of the the Dordogne.

Geography

It takes its source with more than 1.500 m of altitude in Auvergne, Département of the Cantal, in the solid mass of the Monts of the Cantal on the north-eastern side of the Puy Mary in Mary Wood, in the middle of the Regional natural park of the Volcanos of Auvergne.

It sprinkles Claux then Cheylade and joined Rhue out of left bank with Coindre, on the commune of Saint-Amandin.

Hydrology

  • on January 13rd, 2004, the hydrological station of Marchastel recorded a daily maximum flow of 51,1 m a second.

  • the cascade of Sartre enters Claux and Cheylade.

  • the viaduct of Barajol where passes the railway line tourist of the Gentiane express train .
  • the Gorges of Rhue
      • the throats of Rhue are indexed in the Réseau Natura 2000 like important site for the forests of slopes, fall or ravines of Tilio-Acerion (forests with lime and maples).
