Small-Goâve
Small-Goâve is a coastal town of Haiti, located at 68 kilometers in the south of Port-au-Prince. It is located at 18°25 ′ 53 ″ NR, 72°52 ′ 1 ″ O. Its population is approximately 12 thousand inhabitants.
History
One of the oldest cities of the country, it was initially named Goâve by the Amerindians. The Spaniards, at the end of the XVIe century, will call Aguava the close village. The French will separate these two agglomerations in Large-Goâve and Small-Goâve. The latter became a prosperous colony towards 1663 and the pre-capital of Saint-Domingue.
