Smaky

Smaky was a family of microcomputers developed by the LAMI with FPSL (Lausanne, Suisse) since 1974 by the Professor Jean-Daniel Nicoud. Smaky is a short cut for SMArt KeYboard . According to the generation, Smaky were conceived around the processors 8080, Z80 then 680x0.

Manufactured by EPSITEC-System SA and sold as from 1978, Smaky were provided with software varied like editors, simulation programs or tools to make drawing. A portable version was available with a Mother chart present in the keyboard. It was especially the operating system which made of Smaky a powerful computer for the time; As of Smaky 8 (1980), it becomes multi-task préemptif and has an graphical interface with windows. Smaky were thus similar to the Macintosh which will appear only several years after them (1984).

The development of autonomous Smaky completely ceased in 1995.

The Smaky last is a program of emulation turning on a PC functioning on Windows
