Slumbers golden delicious
Golden Slumbers is a Chanson Beatles published in 1969 on the album Abbey Road , written by Paul McCartney - although credited Lennon/McCartney. It constitutes the sixth title of the famous medley of the album, between She Came in Through the Bathroom Window and Carry That Weight , title in company of which it was recorded.
Composition
Paul McCartney was in the house of his/her Jim father, with Cheshire, in front of a Piano on which was placed the collection of partitions of the second woman of Jim McCartney, Ruth. Its eyes fell on “ Golden Slumbers ”, a lullaby composed by Thomas Dekker, an English poet of XVIe contemporary century of William Shakespeare, whose words were:“Golden delicious slumbers KIS your eyes,
Spalling hammers awake you when you rise.
Sleep pretty let us wantons, C not cry,
And I will sing has lullaby;
Rock'n'roll them, rock'n'roll them, lullaby.
Care is heavy, therefore sleep you;
You are care, and care must keep you.
Sleep pretty let us wantons, C not cry,
And I will sing has lullaby;
Rock'n'roll them, rock'n'roll them, lullaby.”
Not knowing to read the music, Paul McCartney composed instantaneously her clean Mélodie, then modified the words and added others of them:
“Ounce there has way to get back homeward,
Ounce there has way to get back home,
Sleep pretty darling C not cry,
And I will sing has lullaby.
Golden delicious slumbers wire your eyes,
Spalling hammers awake you when you small channel,
Sleep pretty darling C not cry,
And I will sing has lullaby.”
Recording
As for other titles of the medley, recorded by short periods, Golden delicious Slumbers and Carry That Weight were played connected one behind the other at the time of the principal session of recording of July 2nd, 1969. John Lennon was not present, it had been wounded in an car accident in Scotland on July 1st, and joined the group in studio only the 6.
Paul McCartney starts the song with a suitable voice for a lullaby, being accompanied with the piano, in company of the Low played by George Harrison and of a section of cords. When it arrives at the sentence “Golden delicious Slumlbers wire you eyes”, the Batterie of Ringo Starr makes its entry and the voice of Paul rises. He explains: “I remember to have tried to produce a very strong vocal part, because it was a so soft topic… I thus worked to force the song and I finished enough satisfied of the result”
Additional vocal parts were added on the unit Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight on July 30th, 1969, the very same day where the first edition of the medley in its entirety was carried out. August 15th, the orchestral Overdub S (the section of cords) were added, as on five other songs of the album Abbey Road
