Slop

The slops are maritime waste, Boue S which remain at the bottom of the cisterns of the ships: when one stores Pétrole gross or other oil products, after a certain time, there is Décantation heavy products and impurities which form a magma of products at the bottom of the capacity. This layer of products is called slop . From time to time one purges this slop and one injects it with small amounts in the crude to be treated, in order not to modify the specific characteristics to this crude.

The slops are the subject of a International convention (convention Marpol), which prohibits to reject them at sea. The slops are exportable to be reprocessed in adequate installations.
