SkyTrain of Düsseldorf

The SkyTrain is a suspended Monorail which connects different the Aérogare S from the International airport of Düsseldorf to the station Düsseldorf Flughafen. It was brought into service on July 1st 2002.

The building work began in November 1996. The network was open in two times: first of all of the station to terminal A/B then one year and half later, 250 meters of auxiliary traffic lanes were built at the same time as the terminal C. SkyTrain functions of 3:45 of the morning until 0:45 and connects the three terminals and the carpark n°4 to the station Düsseldorf Flughafen where pass more than 350 trains (ICE, RegionalExpress, S-Bahn) by jour.
The course of the 2,5 km is carried out with 10 meters height and takes in hardly five minutes with the maximum speed of 50 km/h. With 5 trains in function, SkyTrain has a capacity of 2.000 people with their luggage per hour.
