Ski touring with the Olympic Games

The Ski touring is present at the Winter Olympics since its launching in 1924 with Chamonix (France) with the program two tests male: 18 km and 50 km. The women could take part in their first OJ in Oslo in 1952. At the time of these Olympic tests, only the athletes Russian (ex- the USSR) call into question the supremacy of the Scandinavian athletes

Today, twelve tests (six for the men, six for the women) are proprosées:

  • sprint : first of all against the watch opposes all the founders with departures every 15 seconds, then the first sixteen founders clash by handles of four person, with quarterfinal, semi-finals and finally a final between the four best founders determines the podium.
  • Sprint by teams: two semi-finals oppose ten teams or more, then five the best is qualified for the final which will thus count 10 teams on the whole. Each team is made up of two founders who each one their turn will take three times the relay.
  • Relay : a shift team is composed of four founders carrying out each one their tower a stage of the course.
