Skara
Skara , in the Comté of Västra Götaland is one of the oldest towns of Sweden and is the historical center the province of Västergötland. Nowadays it is the name of a common of 18.000 inhabitants of which it is the chief town and of an agglomeration of 10.703 inhabitants,).
History
According to the legend the town of Skara would have been founded into 988. Skara was at the beginning of XIe century one of both town of Västergötland, the other being the city Lödöse close to the mouth of the Göta älv. If Lödese were founded on the trade, Skara was the political center where the Ting were held, a kind of regional assembly.
At the time of the Christianisation of Sweden Skara became, in 1050, the évêché seat of one, oldest of Sweden.
