Skúli Bárdarson, Jarl and duke of Norway during the reign of the king Håkon IV of Norway.
Skúli Bårdsson was born about 1189. He was the son of Baard Guttormsson and the half-brother of the king Inge Bårdsson. Håkon Haakonsson had become king in 1217 at the 13 years age, after the death of Inge II. Skúli, which held the title of Jarl exerted in fact the regency of the kingdom.
In 1239, it authorizes its partisans to proclaim it king de Norvège at the assembly of Øyrating. It mobilized an army against the king and gained a battle with Låka, but in lost another close to Oslo. In May 1240, it is beaten by the king Håkon IV and his partisans. He sought refuge with the monastery of Elgester with Nidaros but the men of Håkon burned the monastery and killed it.
