This article describes the possibility of a Sixth Republic in France , which constituted one of the topics of the presidential election French of 2007.
History
As of the creation of the Ve République by the Constitution of October 4th, 1958, of the publicity agents think so that could be a VIe Republic .
The first Republic life plans, were formulated by the left, since 1959, in particular by Pierre Mendès France. This idea of institutional rupture is thus old in the political debate; the whole of the left-wing policy small formations having indeed taken position for its installation since several years (Greens as of their creation in 1984, for example…). But the set of themes will be truly started again during creation in 2001 of Convention for the Life Republic (C 6R) by Bastien François and Arnaud Montebourg. This project will be then begun again by right parties (of which in particular UDF), but if unit of small formations are pronounced for adoption of new Constitution, two principal parties (UMP and the PS - in the motion of synthesis adopted at the time of the Congress of Mans, which was thereafter contradicted by the remarks made at the time that the countryside by Ségolène Royal), remain opposite with this idea of institutional rupture.
Fought a long time by the left, the alternation of 1981 consolidates for a time the political regime and institutional of the Ve République
