History
On the 4300 hectares of this commune, one finds there the vestiges of the most moved back worships or civilization.
Sixt was already inhabited 2400 years ago! Indeed the commune of Sixt has several monuments megalithic with the Rocks, the Chestnut grove, Villozènes or Pommery. In Trégaret rise a tumulus with destroyed half and a menhir with several remains, in Villeuneuve a menhir of 3,60 meters, and in Trohinat a ground cutting off.
With these people, succeeded the Celts or Gallic, 500 years before Jesus-Christ. And their made stone tools were found daily and at the beginning of this century under the plow shear. Then the Romans came, little before the beginning of our era, who conquered all the country. A Roman way, that which connected Duretie (Rieux) to Condate (Rennes) crosses our territory of the South to North. Moreover wouldn't SIXT draw its name from the site of the 6th military terminal located on this way? The Breton ones replaced the Gallo-Romans and of many villages still evoke in their denomination this Breton-speaking time of the 9th century: Kercabon, Tréabat, Rangervé, Trégaret… The parish of SIXT is quoted as of 832. Indeed the true story of SIXT starts with Saint Conwoïon, to which Ratuili, Macthiern, lord, inhabitant Lisfao (Fau aujoud' today) made gift of the site which allowed the construction of the Monastery of Redon (residence of several Breton kings). And consequently, the radiation of the Abbey on the whole of Machtiernat: radiation economic, policy but so cultural.
In 835, the king Nominoë, demolishes, close to Sixt, to the place “the Battle” the franque army of the small son of Charlemagne says and founds Brittany which we know.
In XIesiècle, one does not see any more Machtierns with Sixt, but the descendants of Ratuili still seem to dominate the parish fortunately. It is the time when half of the villages of Eriginiac (Arguignac) and of Furnel (Fouinel) are given to the Abbey of Saint Saver.
It is not that in XIIequ' lords appear taking the name of Sixt: Mathieu de Sixt (1108) and Guillaume de Sixt (1136). Later, the parish will pass almost entirely under the Seigniory of Renac. It is of it and thanks to it which the manors raised of the Abbey of Mouraud, Boffour, Wood-Orhand, Bray and good of others. With the Middle Ages, the stocks and collars of the lords of Sixt are with the Fountain Sixt Saint close to the borough. The lords have right of justice to the Forgery, and high justice to the manor of Boffour. The common one counts to 29 manors. Several of the old castles still exist. To quote only two of them: that of Plessis of Sixt, built in 1500 per Jean de Porcaro and that of $the Hague of Déron, built in 1600 per Mr. Moreau of Déron.
In 1712, the inhabitant of Sixt on Aff revolt against the rights féodaux.
January 28th 1790, the peasants threaten the manor of Bray, and keeps it Rennes, stationed with Pipriac and directed by the count of Guichen, intervenes. Two peasants are killed and another seriously wounded. March 4th 1790, Sixt is attached to the district of Redon and becomes common with Saint-Just.
