Possibility of sale
June 22nd, 2006, the company Six Flags announced that it considered several options for six of its parks, of which perhaps Magic Mountain and its watery park, with an aim of selling them to property developers with my PS to close them and to replace them by dwellings. The reason called upon by the persons in charge of the parks was the drops in number of visits and the hard behavior of certain visitors (notably of the teenagers and young people adult, who form a broad percentage of the public of the park). The statistics of February 2007 indicate a fall of 12% since the previous year, seems it had with the increase of 10 $ of the price of the tickets (the price reaching 60 $) during the season 2006 like that of the carpark, passing to 15 $. For the entirety of the chain Six Flags, the frequentation with the second quarters 2006 was lower by 14% compared to the second half-year 2005. Moreover certain visitors report than the objects bearing the name “Six Flags Magic Mountain” are balanced with half price while the products of the other parks remain full fares.
When Six Flags announced the sale of five parks in January 2007, Magic Mountain did not make party of the list. Wendy Goldberg, the spokesperson of Six Flags indicated that after fuller evaluation, the Californian park remained profitable and that the company would wait until the sales climb with the season advancing.
