Sites of prehistoric rupestral art of the valley of Côa
The Sites of prehistoric rupestral art of the valley of Côa to the Portugal are single from the number of engravings which they lodge. Those date from the higher Paléolithique (from 22.000 to 10.000 years before J-C).
These engravings were discovered in 1989 at the time of a preliminary work with the construction of the hydroelectric stopping in the high valley of Côa. Considering the archaeological importance of this site, it was decided to defer the construction project of this stopping.
The sites were registered on the Liste of the world heritage of UNESCO in 1998.
