Site castral of Lorentzen
The Site castral is located on the commune of Lorentzen, in the Département of the Low-Rhine.
History
The castle, the mill, the barn dîmière and the dwelling house constitute a remarkable and imposing unit.
The square layout of the castle points out old the Wasserburg (castle of plain surrounded by water) built by Friedrich II of Sarrewerden.
Of the five towers of the feudal residence, there remains about it only three, as well as the base of the fourth. The Renaissance tower in the court of the castle testifies to the restoration of the 16th century. It will pass to Nassau-Saarbrucken in 1683 and will become residence dowager thereafter.
