Sister Sledge

Sister Sledge is a group of music American Disco , formed with fine Philadelphia 1971. The group is, as its name indicates it, formed by four sisters all born in Philadelphia (Pennsylvania): Deborah (" Debbie" , " Debra") the July 9th 1954; Joan (" Joni") the September 13rd 1956; Kim the August 21st 1957 and Kathy Sledge the January 6th 1959. They started very young people considering they had between 17 and 12 years. They were chorus-singers in their local church and were pointed out not only by their voices sublimes which agreed marvelously well, but also by their natural charismas.

Mama Never Told Me leaves in 1973 and Love Don' T You Go in 1974 but is pointed out timidly.

Under the impulse of Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers, the founders of the Smart group, they become their Choriste S like for Al Jarreau and SISTER SLEDGE groups it takes off in 1979 with their individual We Are Family and the album of the same name which will follow with become songs of the standards of the kind He' S The Greatest Dancer (Reprise again in 1997 by Will Smith under the name of Gettin' Jiggy Wit It ), Lost In Music and Thinking Of You . Other tubes will follow in 1980: Pretty Baby , Got To Love Somebody , in 1981 with the famous All American Girls (which will be samplé by Sex Bomb of Tom Jones) and My Guy and in 1983 with Smile . Dance hall One The Jagged Edge and Frankie will be their last successes.

In 1993 a " Very Best Off " with some Remix be will leave and take again the way of the " charts". Their tubes will be often Remix are with the passing of years so that today still, we have the impression that they never left the hits-parades. They continue to make, sometimes to three, some rounds in the world. Sister Sledge are and remains the female group of the Disco music what the Bee Gees (the Gibbs brothers) were at the men. Gave Summer (LaDonna Andrea Gaines, of its true name) remaining the uncontested queen on the side solo.
