the Tribulations of an Chinese in China is a film of 1965, a comedy, whose realizer is Philippe de Broca.

It is a very free adaptation of the Romance éponyme of Jules Verne.

Comparison of the book and film

The synopses of two works are very different, but a certain number of elements of the book were included in film.

In film and the book, the main character (Jean-Paul Belmondo), a very rich man, request with one of his/her friends to kill it. In spite of this apparently macabre topic, two works are comedies.

The character of the servant (Jean Rochefort) brings several scenes cocasses in the book and film, but in a completely different way.

The characters of Jules Verne are Chinese, whereas, in film, the majority of the main characters are Europeans.
