Sistema de Informações da República Portuguesa
The Sistema de Informações da República Portuguesa or SIRP , in French Information system of the Portuguese Republic , is the first agency of Portuguese secret service. It is the trunk of two separate services (Serviço de Informações de Segurança and Serviço de Informações Estratégicas de Defesa), each one having a particular function.
SIRP succeeds the Polícia Internacional E of Defesa C Estado or PIDE , which was the secret police of Salazar during the dictatorship. It was created only in 1984: This kind of services pointed out the PIDE, it was thus associated with the dictatorship. It took 10 years and of the disorders so that the Portuguese government realizes of its need.
