The sensitometer is the study of the action of the light on a photosensitive element.
It is used in Photographie to carry out samples of films in a standardized way, in order to allow the construction of characteristic curves, sometimes called sensitometric curves.
The apparatus has a very stable source of light in intensity, provided with a battery of internal filters of increasing ranks (often 21 ranks). One places inside the apparatus nonexposed film, then one exposes it on all his surface for one duration given using the source and of the filters.
It results from the development a screen test of 21 zones of increasing densities, and once these densities analyzed using a Densitomètre, one can plot the curve characteristic of the emulsion.
