Sirimavo Bandaranaike
Sirimavo Bandaranaike born the April 17th 1916 and deceased the October 10th 2000, is a political woman sri lankaise (Sri Lanka). It was the first woman of the modern history to occupy the station of Prime Minister in a country. It was leader of the party of the freedom of Sri Lanka Sri Lanka Freedom Party. Its passage was not transitory since it was Prime Minister with three recoveries: of 1960 with 1965, of 1970 with 1977 and of 1994 with 2000. At the time of its third mandate, she exerted with in the chair her daughter Chandrika Kumaratunga. She belongs to a family which dominated the political life in Sri Lanka all second half of the twentieth century.
Youth
Sirimavo Bandaranaike was oldest of the girls in a family cash six children. Its family was opulent, aristocratic and ground owner. Although Buddhist, Sirimavo Bandaranaike was educated in a convent of Colombo held by Catholiques nuns. In 1940, when it was 24 years old, it married Solomon Bandaranaike which created the nationalist Sri Lankan Freedom Party and to the victory at the time of the election of 1956 led it. It was the woman of precede Prime Minister by Sri Lanka, Solomon Bandaranaike and the mother of Chandrika Kumaratunga third president of Sri Lanka. She is also the mother of Anura Bandaranaike, Minister for tourism of Sri Lanka and Sunethra Bandaranaike, philanthropist.
