Sinus

A sinus is a fine Stalactite made of a natural tube of Concrétion of Calcite in which the Eau of Infiltration circulates.

The water which drains at the end of the channel deposits a fine corolla of concretion formation which lengthens the formation gradually.

With time, the sinus one can thus lengthen to reach sizes of several decimetres, which confers a very esthetic pace to him, but also a great brittleness. It can break under the effect of its own weight or an air blast.

The end of the central channel of sinus can be also sealed under the effect of matters brought by seepage water or more often by external disturbances (anthropic risings, stains.). The water, which cannot run out by the central channel, percole then through the fine wall of sinus or is diverted further in the crack of the solid mass. The deposit of concretion formation refers on the outside of the sinus one. This one evolves/moves thus in traditional stalactite, even in drapery or another more massive sintered form.
