Sinnamary
Sinnamary is a common French, located in the department of the Guyana.
Geography
The city is located along the river Sinnamary.
The culminating point is the mountain Plomb (355 m), located at the south of the commune. There exists also a big lake created by water the reserve of the Barrage of Small-jump, divided with the commune of Saint-Élie.
History
Sinnamary was in the beginning an Amerindian village . The first colonists arrived towards 1770.
The French revolution off-set there, following the coup d'etat of the 18 fructidor year V (September 4th 1797) some political enemies of then: Bored-Marbois, Tronson Ducoudray, the marquis Barthélémy, the General Pichegru, the abbot Brottier, Laffon de Ladebat, Murinais, Billaud-Game preserve and Collot d' Herbois.
In the years 1850, the discovery of gold made there come from many prospectors.
In 1933, a penal establishment was created there to accommodate prisoners Indochinese.
In 1956, the State built the bridge of Madam de Maintenon who allowed to connect two banks of the river Sinnamary.
Very old archeological sites were recently revealed at the time of the operations of earthwork of the future site Soyuz.
Economy
The economy of the city is drawn by two major sites:

the Stopping of Small-jump;
- the Guianese Space center and the construction of the step of shooting Soyuz, whose startup is planned for 2008.
