Sinistrality

The rate of sinistrality is a concept of Assurance. It is a financial Ratio between the amount of the disasters to be compensated and that for the boxed premiums.
In theory this rate must be lower than 1, to cover the costs of management and to ensure good a Rentabilité, it even pledge of Solvabilité of the insurance companies, which are mutualists or quoted on the stock exchange.
The insurance companies follow very close this rate. They analyze also the evolution of the factors of sinistrality (demographic, environmental, behavioral, technological, political and réglementaux, etc).
This statistical follow-up and of these analyzes are used for the companies with
- to arrange their tariffs of premiums,
- to adjust their technical provisions which are sums put in reserve to face the Risque S of the contracts in progress.
- to adapt the clauses of contract, for example to control the moral Risk
- to promote the prevention
- to lay down their policy of Reinsurance,
- to even determine the Insurable risk.
