Single-parent family

A single-parent family is a family consisted of only one Adulte and at least a Enfant. The child could be conceived out of the bonds of the Mariage without the father being identified (" mother-célibataire" or " girl-mère"), or one of the parents to have deceased.
If the alive parents have divorced, separated or " dépassés" , the family is then burst.
What INSEE calls single-parent family is in fact the concept of single-parent Foyer. Thus, between 1990 and 1999, the number of single-parent families passed from 1.397.000 to 1.640.000, which is explained mainly by the increase in the number of divorces in same time.
One their consequences is the impoverishment of the Ménage S.
