Sinergy
Sinergy is a Finnish group of Melodic Power Metal.
Biography
The idea which was at the base of Sinergy germinated when the clavierist of Dimmu Borgir of then, Kimberly Goss, met the guitarist of In Flames Jesper Strömblad at the time of a common world tour. They discussed the idea to create a group of metal carried out by a woman, but could not build this idea because of the time constraints.
When Kimberly left Dimmu Borgir and left for Sweden, it decided that it was time to carry out its project with Strömblad. The first incarnation of Sinergy was made up of them, of the bass player Sharlee D' Angelo (who played in Arch Enemy and Mercyful Fate), of the beater Ronny Milianowicz and Alexi Laiho (Children off Bodom), still unknown guitarist at the time.
Their first album Beware the Heavens was recorded in 1999. Its concept was simple: to turn over to the sources of the groups of metal carried out by women, removing the elements of opera introduced into the years 1990 and to return to the style of singers like Doro Pesch (of Warlock).
The album was sold rather well and was accepted with excitation on behalf of the European metal fans, but Sinergy encountered serious problems when it is a question of managing time that the members passed with their principal groups. To complicate the things, Kimberly left for Finland at the end of this same year, preventing the members from meeting regularly, 3 of the other members living in Sweden.
The group was thus dissolves, but Kimberly and Alexi wanted to continue the project. With this intention, they joined together a new formation, only made up of Finnish. Legendary the Roope Latvala (pioneer of Finnish metal: he was founding member of Stone, one of the groups which initiated the movement heavy metal in Finland, and it is current the second guitarist of Children off Bodom) assumed the position of rhythmic guitarist, Marco Hietala (of Tarot, today of Nightwish) became the new bass player and Toni Lillman was selected like beater. This formation recorded To Hell and Back and left then in round with Nightwish. At that time, Sinergy started to be recognized universally. This round is perhaps even more notable to have been reproduced on the DVD From Wishes to Eternity of Nightwish. One of the memorable moments is a joke which a selection of musicians made by making irruption on the scene, claiming to be Nightwish. Ironically, Marco Hietala played the part of the bass player of Nightwish, Sami, which it was going to replace on their next album.
However, the group assumed its own identity only with the recording of the album Suicide by my Side . Kimberly gave up its lighter and more female voice and passed has a harder and more powerful voice. Alexi and Roope composed of the memorable solos on this album, like that of I Spit one Your Grave .
Shortly after the exit of this album, Lillman left the group and was replaced by Swedish Mats Karlsson. Sinergy envisages the exit of their next album, Sins off the Past , during 2008.
