Maurice Sinet (alias Siné) is a draftsman and political caricaturist born with Paris the December 31st 1928. Regent of the College of Pataphysique.
It passes its childhood to Pigalle in the district of the Goutte of Gold, place whose it will keep a rebellious spirit. The fate of his/her father, Laurent Sinet, condemned several years to the forced labors, all the more contributes to its critical distance towards the State, the Justice and the Police.
At fourteen years, it enters to the École Estienne and studies there the Dessin and the Maquette. The night it earns its living while singing in the cabarets.
On its return of the military service (that it mainly passes in prison), it starts to draw and made final improvements on the photographs of the pornographic reviews of the time. It publishes its first drawing in France Dimanche in 1952 and receives the Grand Prix of Black Humor in 1955 for its collection Complainte without Words .
It is its series of drawings on the Chat S which launches it definitively, it enters then to the Express train as political draftsman. He expresses his opinions anticolonialists during the Guerre of Algeria. Whereas it briefly replaces François Mauriac with the block-note of the newspaper when this last must go away for health reasons, this " free-note" is worth with the Express train of many letters made indignant at its readers and will oblige Jean-Jacques Servan-Schreiber to publish a letter of excuses on first page of the newspaper, which will not arrange its relations with Siné, this one continuing to publish drawings engaged in the newspaper. Siné will never be censured but will have to face many lawsuits, defended by Jacques Vergès, then lawyer of FLN. It leaves the Express train in 1962 to create its own newspaper Siné Massacre where it expresses then its Anti-colonialisme, Anti-capitalism, Anti-cléricalisme and its Anarchisme.
In May 1968, it founds Mad the with Jean-Jacques Pauvert. In 1981, it joined the team of Charlie-Hebdo with its heading Siné sows its zone and in 1981 Michel Polac calls upon him for the emission Right of reply on TF1.
With the suppression of the emission in 1987 because of a drawing annotated of one: Bouygues, a house of mason, a bridge of mason, a TV of m… , it passes to the Event of Thursday with Loup.
In 1992, it takes again its heading Siné sows its zone with the resumption of new the Charlie Hebdo, not without some clashes with the new direction.
In 2004, it supports the list Euro-Palestine with the European elections of June 2004. He is member of the committee of sponsorship of the French Coordination for the Decade of the culture of peace and Non-violence.
Large amateur of Jazz, it illustrated many books on the jazz, as well as small pockets of discs.
Some of its drawings also were sometimes used for the illustration of the front page of works like, for example, Parents against Profs of the journalist Maurice Maschino, because the drawing at a glance allows a perfect approach of the contents: one sees there (with the background a black board where " is traced; with bottom the aicole one! ") a teacher laid down on the ground, obviously occis by a young pupil and his father, raising the both left arms as a sign of victory and posing the left foot on the body of their " adversary vaincu".
