Simulie
The simulie ( Simulium ) is a Moucheron present mainly in the wetlands. It is called moutmout in certain areas of Africa Centrale.
It is an insect Hématophage. Its puncture leaves a small red task sometimes involving itchings and edema S.
It can propagate several diseases. Simulium damnosum and S. naevi is the vectors of the Onchocercose (blindness of the rivers) which one meets in Africa whereas they are Simulium callidum and S. metallicum in Central America, but also S. ochraceum in Central America and of the South.
