Simple I - the Bercy integral
Simple I - the integral Bercy is an album live of France Gall recorded with the general sports Palais of Paris-Bercy in 1993, gathering 2 volumes ( Débranchée and Rebranchée in Bercy ), and published in 1994. Each volume was sold with more than 200.000 specimens.
Note of France Gall - In a little more than two years, of New Morning with Pleyel while passing by Bercy, a chapter opened, filled and closed again. Another started. I wanted that on this double album the first sentences of these chapters are reproduced: Never to leave that Michel and me sang for our friends in New Morning in June 1992 and Princes the cities recorded in Pleyel in September 1994 and mixed in Paisley Park in October. To all those which accompanied me and supported up to now I would please say I Coils You . And to you who listen to the music of Michel, I say See You Soon .

Around the album
- the star of Shepherd lights Bercy - the sound engineers speak :
Under the control of Yves Jaget, the sound diffusion was the search object for original multicasting of “structure of range”, using many known products of the range of diffusers general public of the manufacturer Meyer Sound, but also of the innovations of this manufacturer: DS2, USM, MSL2, even of the prototypes like MSL5.
Yves Jaget : The multicasting constitutes the future of the diffusion in spectacle. Increasingly powerful tools are at the disposal of the technicians to implement this new manner of working.
Sound system Magazine : What determined you to create this structure of diffusion completely hung in range?
Yves Jaget : A constraint in the situation of the enclosures had been imposed by the producer. Not only one was not to appear in the field of the spectator. Then, I estimate that the comfort of listening passes by a good distribution of sound energy on the whole of the public. To obtain this balanced distribution, the diffusion is thus presented in the form of a propagation in range with broad choice of enclosures and very studied filterings, so as to adapt to just each enclosure, with requirements in dispersion, equalization and sound images different according to the situation from the spectators.
Bercy is not a room in perfect amphitheater, but a kind of rectangle which creates very different distances from dispersion according to the situation in the room. It was thus necessary to take account of this constraint while starting by distorting these concentric circles and then by modifying the number and the types of enclosures to find the output best adapted.
Les voice of France and that of the chorus-singer is compressed by a very sophisticated apparatus: the DPR 901 BSS. It enables me to carry out the compressions very sophisticated on this show, inter alia.
Sur scene, its amplifier is useful to me especially when Jannick makes use of sound octaver, its modulation HF arrives to me pure. Another, worked by the pedals of effects Jannick is taken again by the amplifier. I mix the whole in different proportions according to the titles. That enables me to proportion the important use that made Jannick of its octavers, without inevitably taking again totality of it. It there as that a sound which is personal for him and another sound which I pass by again in the diffusion. M 422 are used for the recovery on line of the Fender amplifiers of the guitarist Denys Lable, except for the acoustic part of the show where the sound is taken again on line. Our difficulty, on the battery of Claude Salmieri, especially was to carry out positionings of microphones adapted to very reduced spaces. Claude plays indeed with a set of battery “very flat” and spaces it between toms and cymbals is seriously reduced. The voice of France east taken again by a body of micro static HF SEM 700 from which the capsule can be different according to the needs. Statics is justified by the fact that the level of voice of France is not embanking, and that this microphone combines a very balanced band-width.
Sound system Magazine : The spectacle of France Gall, returned after a few years of scenic absence, articulated in two great parts, one electric, other acoustics, for a Best off of the more beautiful songs, Cézanne painted , offered by Michel Berger to his wife and of the compositions which he itself sang, white Paradis . The group of the rappeurs Established among in recall to say and repeat, if it of it were need, that in the Shepherd, one does not have too the fiber pasquaienne.
Un together of musicians reduced to his more strict need: synthé piano/, battery, low and guitar. But with musicians of this hardening, not is not need for instrumental higher bid. That sounds emblée.
Le technical choice of a multicasting proved to be paying insofar as one wanted that France Gall occurs in a room as immense as Bercy, while playing the chart of the musical intimacy. The voice of France, in spite of very dense orchestral arrangements (synthés of Serge Perathoner, in particular) arose with firmness, but without aggressiveness, which would have been catastrophic, aesthetically parlant.
Je will be less enthusiastic on the scenic decoration which appeared disproportionate compared to the size of the group and the fixity of this one. As for the design of lightings, it was perhaps deliberately selected neutral and discrete… or imagination was lacking. Too bad!
