Simoun (animates)

Diffused on the Japanese screens of April 2006 until September of the same year. This animated series of 26 episodes, is an original creation of the Studio DEEN who known in same time an adaptation in manga (one-shot) pre published in Comic Yuri Hime and a novelisation, always in the course of publication, as well as a video game in preparation on PS2. Presented at the time as one of animate Yuri of the season April 2006, reality is very different once the first exceeded episode. Profiting from an exceptional Band signed by Toshihiko Sahashi (Gunslinger Girl, Gundam Seed, Full Metal Panic grass) and of the marvellous artistic talent of the signed decorations Shichiro KOBAYASHI (Artistic Director in Cobra, Utena, KOR…) and of one will chara époustouflant of Asako Nishida; Simoun makes party of these series difficult to classify such an amount of the topics approached multiple and is varied. By combining topics socio-politico-monk with the problems of adolescence and of the escape of time, Simoun shows that it is still possible to dare and of going beyond the simple stories without returning in be delirious philosophical.

Introduction to the history

The history of Simoun begins on the Daikûriku planet whose technology would be similar to that of our industrial era (19th century), nevertheless certain more advanced technologies are lost just like the history of the creation of this world. Three countries that are: theHoly one of Simulacrum (Kyuukoku), the Archipelago of Argentum (Shoukoku) and the High-Grounds of Plumbum (Reikoku), are in war for various reasons as well political, climatic, economic that religious even vital for the health of some of between-them. Who more is, on this particular planet, the being human are born all from sex female but each country cures the problem of the reproduction to its manner by changing the sex of certain citizens; maybe by a religious ritual with the Source at the time of the passage at the adulthood (at 17 years) for definitively deciding on a sex (it is the case of Ground-Holy); maybe by medical means as of the birth (it is the case of the Archipelago). At the beginning of this history, theHoly one with the advantage over all the other nations thanks to an unknown technology (even by it) but that it has despite everything: Simoun, this flying machine which would be blessed of Tempus-Spatium (God venerated by Kyuukoku) and which would have offered it to Ground-Holy blessed as much. Simoun, pushed by Helical Motors is able to steal an ease ever equalized and this good beyond the clouds contrary to the enemy machines which constantly are likely to be struck by the lightning. But Simoun is also a weapon mortal able to eliminate a whole enemy fleet by drawing reasons in the sky called " IH Mâjon" whose capacity of destruction is impressive. Nevertheless to fly on Simoun is not given to everyone. Only the girls not having decided of their sex have the honor of it: they are the priestesses of Simulacrum called " Simoun Sibyllae" whose role, before the beginning of the hostilities, was confined to draw IH Mâjon in order to request and honor Tempus Saptium or to seek old the lost IH Mâjon, inside a group of twelve Simoun Sibyllae composing a " Chor" : the " Chor Tempest" being most famous. But the conflict opposing the three countries to fact of our priestesses of warlike obliged to fight on the battle fields for the safety of Ground-Holy….

Presentation of the characters

Chor Tempest

Aer : An impetuous character and always of good mood, it joined Chor Tempest to replace the 3 Sibyllae lost with the combat. She wants absolutely to form a pair with Neviril because she is the best of Sibyllae. Aer is in fact a volunteer (not a priestess) who after having been used as a junior for the southern face became Sybilla, nevertheless it has incredible capacities with the vol.

Amuria : the old Pair (sagitta) of Neviril, died with the combat (finally, its forever found body) thus it would be rather disappeared on the battle field. Of determined nature, it tended to see the simouns like instrument of being able. Its relation with Neviril seemed to go beyond the simple relation between pair. It is by testing the ultimate IH Maajion " IH Maajion de Emeraude" that it disappeared.

Alty : Sister of Kaimu and seems to suffer from a " sister complex". It is also the pair of Floe. It seems rather mature and considered in spite of its complex, its wish current being of going to the Source with her sister and becoming a man in order to protect it. Its relation as Paire with Floe is rather comic with the sight of the spades which it launches to the gossip of service.

Dominûra : Oldest of Sibyllae and single surviving of Chor Dextra. She joined the Tempest Cal at the request of Gurgarief to be the pair of Limone. Enough authoritative, it has all the assets of a leader and profits from a good sense from the strategy but " be wary of the apparences" ….

Elly/Ellyph : Old member of Chor Tempest under the Amuria era; it decides to go to the Source and to put an end to its role of sibylla to the 2nd episode, by fear and yet it east will remain undecided ..... It seems attached enough to Neviril and respects it much for its role of Sibylla Aurea.

Floe : Energetic young girl and former small-friend of Wapourif. At all timid, she does not hesitate to express her feelings. Always with the current of the last news rythmant the life of Chor Tempest, it is true a gossip. Nevertheless for such an energetic girl, her weight is disconcerting…

Kaim : Sister of Alti and Paire of Paraietta, with boy-missed the enough character. Its relation with his/her sister is rather tumultuous at the commencement of the series but that was not always the case, it would seem that the conflict began little time after their arrival within Chor Tempest, but the obscure reasons remainders ..... Kaim develops also an admiration without terminals for Paraietta a such groupie and strongly reddens when the latter gives its attention to him.

Rimone : It is youngest of Sibyllae, normal it is a genius and it profited from a special exemption to join Chor Tempest following the loss of many members. It should be said, at the beginning, Limone is rather haughty because of its genius, but it nevertheless is traumatisée by an incident which has occurred when it was still Cadet until ...... If not, Limone is more than accro with the candies ^^

Rotreamon : Soft and female, Rotre comes from a noble family (moreover her name betrays its origins) and consequently the majority are addressed to its person by calling it " Mademoiselle" (Ojô-sama). It was the Pair of Erie, before being that of Morinas with which it has a jovial agreement. The arrival of Mamiina within Chor Tempest will be the occasion of some explanations…

Mamiina : Originating in a low social class, it could integrate Chor Tempest thanks to the war and with its capacities out-pair. Nevertheless, it keeps a certain resentment against the Aristocracy, because of discrimination of which it was victim and of which it still feels victim… It remains, however, attached to its roots and seems to be liked the domestic tasks, but attention with what is in your plates if you sought it ........

Morinas : Still one replacing which shows a great interest towards Simoun and its secrecies. Contrary to the others sibyllae, Morinas is not very interested by its role of priestess: all that interests it is the feeling of the piloting of Simoun. Mori is somebody of enough enjoué, always a smile and of good very natural company but especially.

Neviril : It is Regina of the Cal Tempest and it carries the title of " Sibylla Aurea" because it is the best of its generation. Respected of all, it is interdict to refer to it under its own name even when it is absent. Neviril is the incarnation of all that there is of more female until the ends of the nails (or of the buttocks ^^) that it is in its way of being expressed or to be driven. It will remain a long time traumatized by the loss of its Pair and Partner: Amuria, blocking Chor Tempest until ......

Paraietta : Friend of childhood of Neviril which a such being useful knight accompanies it in each one of its decisions like that to be sibyllae. Consequently, nothing in this fact is without relationship with Neviril and day before so that nothing disturbs it. A honest and faithful friend thus, at first sight, but Para hides a secret love towards his best friend who chokes it and who is ready to explode .....

Yun : Its characteristic is to be expressed in the most male way which is and with much frankness. Yun is disturbed by the memory as of his/her former comrades died in the war, not knowing if they could find the rest of the heart. It remains thus devoted with its role of sibylla and wishes only one thing: Peace.

the supporting characters

Anubituf : Captain of Arcus Preceded: big boss, warned and good tactician, always make the good decisions without letting itself go by the feelings.

Guragief : Two of the Simoun troops on board Arcus Prima which are Chor Tempest, Caput and Rubor. Enough sentimental, Guragief has tendency to surprotéger its sibyllae while not being authoritative enough.

Halconf : Father of Neviril and Vice-Président of Simulacrum. It is very anxious to become of his daughter and seems to prefer to rather know it with the Source than with the combat; what his/her daughter does not seem to include/understand thinking only her father worries only for its career…

Onashia : Large Priestess of Simulacrum and the most respected personality of this country. It is also the Guardian of the Source and can decide in your place of your sex, if you are too undecided….

Vyura : Member of Chor Rubor and comrade of room of Aaeru. With the departure, rather hostile towards the Tempest Cal of share the competition birth due to fallen from Chor Tempest of its statute of elite; it will prove to have a deep respect and a great admiration for this one…

Wapôrif : Technician on Arcus Preceded, it left two years ago with the Source to become a man. Very believing, Wapourif rigorously complies with the religious rules until breaking with Floe when it became " adulte" . Its faith will be put at severely tested because of its attraction towards Morinas….

Wauf : Captain of the Messis old man. Very respectful of Sibyllae, he does not hesitate to endanger Messis for them. Rather observant, it will rather quickly include/understand the true intentions of Dominura….
