Simone Nickel silver

Simone Melchior Cousteau (1919 - 1990) was the wife and the partner of the explorer Jacques-Yves Cousteau. The first woman to be plunged out of aqualung, Simone was at the side of her husband during the majority of her underwater adventures. Called respectfully " Bergère" by the crew of Calypso, it often accompanied the Commander at the time of his crossings. She enabled him to financially hold so that it can produce its aqualung, to repair Calypso, and saved the boat of the storm.

Simone was born the January 19th 1919 in Toulon, France. His/her father Henri Nickel silver and his two grandfathers Jules Nickel silver (paternal) and Jean Baehme (maternal) were admirals in the French navy. His/her mother, Marguerite Nickel silver, in an emotional way was made call Guitte. She had two brothers: Maurice, and his false-twin, Michel.

Simone met her husband-to-be during a festival in 1937. He was naval officer 25 year old and it had 17 of them. They married with Saint-Louis-of-Invalids, in Paris, the July 12th 1937.

After an honeymoon in Switzerland and Italy, Cousteau settled in Mourillon, a district of Toulon, France. Jean-Michel was born the May 6th 1938 and Philippe Pierre the December 30th 1940. The two wire were born on the family table.
