Simon Mayr

Simon (Johannes) Mayr (or Mayer) , born in Mendorf (Bavaria) Italian parents on June 14th 1763 and deceased with Bergamo on December 2nd 1845, is an Italian type-setter.
He makes initially studies of theology.
He is the pupil of Carlo Lenzi and Ferdinando Bertoni. Initially, it composes of the oratorios. Piccinni encourages it to write operas. It obtains its first success with Ginevra di Scozia in 1801 in Trieste. Reached cataract, it becomes completely blind in 1826. From 1815, it is devoted again to the sacred music.
It counts Donizetti among its pupils.
It adds up some 600 works.
