Origin

The simmental is originating in the Bernese Oberland. It belongs to the branch Pie red of the mountains.
Son genealogical Livre was created in 1806, in the Canton of Bern. These cows were then very required for their rapid growth, their excellent level of dairy production and cheese-making, and their quality of animals of force. It is the alpine race of the Western Suisse. Its dairy production was improved during the Années 1960, by the introduction of seed of Red holstein, of MRY and Montbéliarde.

Morphology
