Simca CG MC
The CG Proto MC is a prototype especially intended for the competition. Program CG/MC began in January 1970. It is the fruit of collaboration between Chrysler France for the supply of the engine of the CHRYSLER 180, CG for the body part and Matra as regards the frame.
For information: CG being the initial ones of Cap and Gesalin manufacturer of berlinettes CG to engine Simca in Brie Count Robert (77) of 1965 to 1974.
It is Gesalin which drew first Berlinette Alpine 106 for Rédélé
The CG MC (MC for " Engine-Central") is been driven by a central engine of 2160cm3 which develops 175ch. First exit of the CG " Proto MC" August 8th, 1970 with the Mount-Gilds. Two CG take the departure of XIVe Critérium of the Cevennes to the hands of FIORENTINO/BERBEZY and LAROUSSE/GELIN. The latter will gain the victory in front of the Alpine ones. In 1971 it is the appearance of a version " barquette" of Proto MC. In 1972 the preparation of the engine of 2,2 liters is entrusted to JRD. Its power is increasing until reaching 225ch at the end of the season but this with the detriment of reliability.
In 1973 Michel SALIBA into international and Philippe RENAUDAT in national take the wheel of CG for the competitions.
Chrysler-France then forsakes the rallys with the profit of the program Matra Simca.
With the closing of factory CG in April 1974 it is the end of the series production, the competition and epopee CG. One will nevertheless count 32 victories in 49 races in the active of the CG " MC".
