Simbi

In the Haitian Voodoo, Simbi (or Sim' Bi ) is a family of Lwa Serpent S very wide, originating in central and Western Africa (area of the Congo).

They are the guards of the sources and the points of Eau. The faithful ones had by these spirits have as a habit at the time of fright to be thrown in a Rivière or a pond. Their catholic doublet is the Magi.

The most important lwas Simbi are Simbi Dlo (or Simbi of water), Simbi Makaya' , Simbi Andezo (Simbi of two water) and Grand Simba .

They tradtionnellement are tradtionnellement associated with water in the Congo rite, but in the Haitian voodoo they have a larger range of associations. For example, Simbi Makaya is a large wizard venerated in particular in the secret societies Sanpwel. Simbi Anpaka is a lwa plants, sheets and fish. One allots to them the gift of Clairvoyance.
