Description
The unexpected and durable success of the original title SimCity , combined with the relative lack of success of the other Sim titles finally justified the development of a continuation. SimCity 2000 is an improvement of the concept. The air sight of the first opus was replaced by a sight of three-quarter, in isometric Perspective, making it possible to give an account of the relief of ground. The underground layers appear so that the player can place there water pipelines and lines of Métro. New types of buildings also make their appearance: hospital, Prison S, school S, Library S, Museum S, Park S, marina S, zoo S, Stage S and Arcologie S. the player can also build Autoroute S, Route S, Bus depots, Aéroport S and ports. It is also possible to connect its city with the close cities. The control of the budget and finances is also much more elaborate.
The news comes in the form from several articles from newspapers pre-writings with variable names. The player with the possibility of consulting these articles immediately or of subscribing there annually. The articles of newspapers provide many amusing stories but also important reports/ratios in connection with the New technologies or of the recent Désastre S. SimCity 2000 is the only play in the series to have this option.
The only process considered as a " victoire" is the process of Exode. Indeed, when 200 Arcologie S are built, they can take off towards another planet, returning the population of the city close to 0, but opening broad spaces for redéveloppement and adding great money sums in the treasury of the city.

Kit of urban renewal of SimCity ( SimCity Urban Renewal Kit )
Parallel to the launching of SimCity 2000 , a software called SimCity Urban Renewal Kit (SCURK) appeared. This software makes it possible to the players to modify the images used concerned to represent the various buildings. The modifications were made same manner as in a system software of handling of images. The player could create basic files Bitmap of standard size in a pallet of the 256 colors. Whole of preconceived graphs was distributed. Some replaced the buildings of reward (“reward”) with images of various buildings universally known like the Eiffel Tower. However the majority of the buildings were conceived by fans and were shared on Internet. Many SCURK influenced the appearance of the original buildings of SimCity 3000 .
SimCity 2000 Special edition
A new version of SimCity 2000 , Special SimCity 2000 Edition was launched in 1995 for Microsoft Windows and DOS for GCV. One of the reasons was that the original edition of SimCity 2000 could not be launched under Windows 95, even in prompt mode. Special SimCity 2000 Edition added also moreover, the SimCity Urban Renewal Kit , of new cities selected by Maxis at the time of a competition of 1994, scenarios additional and films. The films were a first for Maxis and Special SimCity 2000 Edition was thus the first play of the collection " Sim" to provide real vidéos (in opposition to animations bitmaps like the screen of congratulations in SimAnt ). These vidéos included film of introduction and four vidéos of comments of Will Wright. These last were accessible via the " application; WillTV" provided with the play.
SimCity 2000 Network Edition
A version network of the play, SimCity 2000: Network Edition , was launched in 1996 for the systems Macintosh and Windows. The edition network made it possible to share resources concerned and to enter in competition or to cooperate with other cities. If the player uses a suitable network (TCP or IPX), SimCity 2000: Network Edition functions in a way similar to SimCity 4 by giving the possibility of cooperating with other cities (for example, by exchanging electricity against money and vice versa).
This version also proposed a Interface user reconsidered. Instead of a static bar of tools, the objects are accessible via menus in cascade since the line from the screen. This resulted in a more functional screen without sacrificing functionalities.
SimCity 2000 (Nintendo 64)
A version Japan ease of SimCity 2000 for Nintendo 64 offered new characteristics, mainly the minijeux ones in 3D, a play of appointment, a set of horses and breeding of monsters, among others. Some new natural disasters were also included, as of the giant attacks of monsters (the players could use their monsters to fight against them). Even if these extras give to the player much more occupation, much consider that this version of the play does not follow the original atmosphere of the play since these will extras were conceived to attract the Japanese market.
