Siméon Garangeau
Jean-Siméon Garangeau , born in 1647 and deceased the August 25th 1741 with Saint-Malo, is a French soldier and engineer.
Biography
After having taken part as a volunteer in the seat of Maastricht (1673) and be captain of the Champagne regiment, Garangeau was reformed following a wound. Its knowledge in geometrical drawing, inculcated by his/her main father carpenter, makes it be directed towards Arts. After voyages in Italy and England, it is in 1677 architect with Paris and in 1678 “controller of the Building industries of Versailles and Fontainebleau” and engineer of the King. As such, it supervises work of the arsenal of Marseilles into 1679 before being named in Brest in 1682. In station during ten years with Brest, Vauban names it in 1692 “and director chief engineer of the fortifications of Saint-Malo”, where it remained until his death in 1741.
