Silvanus

Silvanus was a Roman character of the IIIe century. Tutor and adviser (and perhaps Prefect of the court) of the young person Salonin, the son of Gallien, it remained with him on the border of the the Rhine when his/her father had to set out again in 258. At the summer 260, the general Postume rebelled, constant by the army, and besieged Salonin and Silvanus in Cologne. The city was taken quickly, perhaps by treason, and the two men were killed.
He is called Albanus in Zonaras.
