Siloxane
The Siloxanes are a class of composed of the Silicium whose empirical formula is R2SiO, where R is a radical group which can be organic. Representative examples are N ( diméthylsiloxane ) and N ( diphénylsiloxane ), where N is typically higher than 4. These compounds can be organic hybrids and inorganic. The organic chains confer on made up of the hydrophobic properties whereas the principal chain - If-O-If-O is purely inorganic.
The word siloxane is derived from Sil icium, OX ygene and alk' ane' .
Siloxanes can be found in products such as Cosmétique S, Déodorant S, coatings hydrophobic for Pare-brise and certain soaps.
Polymerized siloxanes are sometimes described like Silicone S, though this name is unsuitable: a silicone group has a double connection between oxygen and silicon, which is not the case of a polymerized siloxane.
